Eirwen sat confidently upon Silverwing. Themselves and Chris stood by the end of the cross country course. The last few that were completing the judged course were starting to come through the finish. She wasn’t too certain they were waiting here at the finish, but she was sure that it had something to do with Chris an ever masterful manipulator.

The heavens opened up again and another clap of thunder rolled over the island. Lil Tensed for a moment and tossed her head in nervousness, Eirwen reached down and stroked the mare’s neck – she settled almost immediately. It was truly amazing how far Chris and herself had come with the horses of Lockanora Lodge. In just a short few months they had entered the hearts of many of the horses – most would put their heart on the line for the two of them.

Eirwen watched as the last competitor jumped the brush fence. His Name and his horses repeated over the loud speaker. She could guess that this was the reason that she was waiting here. “So Chris, Can you tell me why it is that I see someone riding in our stable colours?” She watched his next jump and saw the skill with which he manuvered the horse and asked him to jump. It was relaxed, a look that Eirwen was hoping she was going to be able to pull off when he went over the same course.
“Ah that would be the friend that I mentioned about a month ago. I registered hi stallion with our stable.”
“I see... His name?”
“Arius”

Eirwen watched as himself and a slack reined stallion started to move towards them. His stallion was hardly winded as he made himself friendly with Lil. There was no doubt in Eirwens mind that this brown haired blue eyed gentleman could ride. He could probably ride the course much better than she could.

The stallion that he was riding was named Spiderlord – a beautiful stallion and it wasn’t hard to realise that lil thought along the same line. “What breed is he?" Eirwen asked before anyone else had the chance to speak – she was for this moment much more interested in the stallion before her than his rider.
“Australian stock” was a deep voices reply, which got her attention. A smile finally graced her lips and she introduced herself. One had to wonder what had gotten her attention the horses breed or his riders’ voice?
“My name is Eirwen Farz and I am the current owner of Lockanora Lodge the stable that you are currently riding for. You will have to excuse my earlier rudeness; I was not told that someone else would be riding for the lodge today.” She spoke the last part turned to Chris staring daggers at him, who only smiled back at her.
“No apology required, Eirwen. My Name is Arius Hade and this here is Spiderlord, The joy of my life. I am a cross country and show jumping rider, but I spent most of my younger days as a bull rider. I think it was all the injuries that finally put me out of that profession.” He said a cheerful laugh resonating in his voice.

Eirwens thoughts should have been elsewhere, like the fact that very shortly she and lil would have to tackle the course. But her eyes were watching Arius beside her. She had completely zoned out of the conversation lost somewhere with her thoughts. But every time that he spoke she seemed to pay better attention. She looked up and into his deep blue eyes as he turned to speak to her. His voice seemed to echo around her head it sounding only as a beautiful noise and not words as it should. He was waiting patiently for her reply and Eirwen was...
“Oh my, I’m so sorry I was lost in thought about the coming competition, what did you say?”
“Well, I asked if I had the job?” his smiled jolted her heart into overdrive
“What do you say o a 3 month trail, you are obviously talented rider. The 3 months is just to make sure that you like it back at the lodge.”
“Wonderful, I look forward to working with you. Also you class was called just before.” His smile was mischievous as he spoke and the joy touched his eyes adding a sparkle to their depths.
“What!” Eirwen finally realised the gravity of his words. “I'll have to catch up with you guys later.” With this Lillian was spun quickly on the spot and the two were gone from sight.

“So what do you think?” Chris asked his old friend.
“She is everything you said she would be and more.” He smiled as Chris who grinned back at him. “I have to get going I need to cool spider down properly. I will be back though for when she comes over the finish line.” With a sly wink he too was gone. Chris stood idly by the finish line, his meddling was coming along well.

Host's note: Congrats, 2nd place! You did great! Points and prizes are coming soon

Score: You scored 37/50 placing you 2nd.

Judging Comment: You scored extremely well in two judging categories, fllowing the rules and performance of the horse. Sadly you lost some minor points in your story, it got a bit long and complicated.

Overall Comment: Overall you did fantastiacally, nearly getting a perfect mark in two categories of judging and you followed the rules perfectly. My mystery 2nd judge fell in love with spiderlord and his expression was brilliant.
